The secret garden of four travelers

Orens Parfums is a Parisian house launched in 2018, and its origin is unusual: four traveling artists who did not know each other discovered that the word "Orens" appeared on each of their dream lists. They combined their expertise to compose it in a bottle. Orens is described as a walled garden with astonishing columns, populated by rare flowers, and each perfume is a clue brought back from their quest. The house arranges its eaux de parfum in two collections, Bazi and Kadou, and delivers them in duos: a 50 ml bottle and its 50 ml refill, in a velvet pouch. The engraved metal case takes up the pillars of the garden: the house presents it as a collectible in its own right.

An opening of leather, iris root and rosewood

Leather is there from the first second, with its tanned and dry skin — the house speaks of a fleshy leathery note that reveals its facets over time. The iris root accompanies it with its cold powder, the rosewood with a rosy and soft woodiness, almost floral. Only the mandarin plays the usual role of a top note, and it is quickly covered.

A heart of incense, elemi resin and vetiver

Incense brings its dry and peppery gum, the elemi resin a lemony facet that brightens the whole, the vetiver its smoked root. The heart is entirely dry and mineral, without a single flower.

A base of labdanum, styrax and musk

Labdanum brings its amber and slightly leathery resin, the styrax its baumée and smoked gum, the musk the skin effect. The dry down extends the leather of the start: the perfume therefore returns to its starting point instead of moving away from it. The house describes it as an oriental woody accord.

The house's gesture

An olfactory pyramid classifies the materials by volatility: the lightest at the top, the heaviest at the bottom. Leather always belongs at the bottom. Placing it at the top removes the approach phase: the perfume does not introduce itself, it is already whole at the first spray. The formula also contains three resins — elemi, labdanum, styrax — obtained by cutting the bark, each with its own temperature.
