A house that names its fragrances after their materials

Bohoboco is a Polish house based in Warsaw. It was born in 2009 as a fashion brand, founded by designers Michał Gilbert Lach and Kamil Owczarek. A first fragrance appeared in 2012, before the collection was launched in 2016 — a project in which Lach, having worked in hairdressing, makeup, and then fashion design, says he found his true calling. The house's signature lies in its naming convention: each fragrance simply bears the name of two or three of its materials, without a story or character. Sea Salt Caramel, Vanilla Black Pepper, Wild Carrot Oud — and even provocative names like Magic Mushrooms or Polish Potatoes. The first compositions were created in Grasse, and the house has been awarded by the Fragrance Foundation UK, Vogue Beauty and Elle Style. Everything is available as a unisex 50 ml eau de parfum.

An opening of bergamot and neroli

Bergamot opens bright and slightly bitter, while neroli — bitter orange blossom — brings its floral freshness and honeyed side. Only two materials: the opening is luminous and straightforward.

A heart of jasmine, smoky notes and sandalwood

Jasmine opens, opulent and creamy, immediately darkened by smoky notes. Sandalwood appears and warms the whole. Sweetness here is merely a matter of appearances, the house warns.

A base of musk, sandalwood and cedarwood

Sandalwood returns, even creamier, softened by a powdery musk that gives a skin-like effect. Cedarwood brings its dry resinous counterpoint. The sillage lasts six to eight hours, close to the skin.
