Parfumeur | Dmitry Bortnikov
Siberia by Bortnikoff is a niche woody, spicy, and amber perfume extract, unisex, created by Dmitry Bortnikov. Released in September 2025.
A Thai house where the founder is also the perfumer
Bortnikoff is based in Thailand, in the heart of the agarwood-producing regions. It was founded by Dmitry Bortnikov, a Russian perfumer who is both the owner and the nose of his brand, and who works with wild Thai ouds, sourcing his materials at the source. He uses genuine animal materials — deer musk, castoreum, civet, ambergris. The catalog is divided into four lines: Entry Level, Main Collection, Colognes and Attars. 50 ml bottle.
An opening of bergamot, orange and two peppers
Bergamot and orange open bright and zesty, immediately tightened by the dry and vibrant black pepper, and the fruitier and sparkling pink pepper. A lively and spicy start.
A heart of benzoin, deer musk, oakmoss and vanilla
This is where everything happens. The Siberian deer musk — Kabarga — settles in, warm and slightly animalic. Benzoin and vanilla soften it, while oakmoss brings a damp and slightly bitter freshness.
A base of Burmese oud and cedarwood
Burmese oud closes the composition, deep and resinous, held by cedarwood and its sharpened pencil dryness. Only two materials, and a very long-lasting trail.
The house's signature
The title does not refer to a landscape but to a material. One expects taiga, cold air, conifers; there are none. The Siberia referred to here is Kabarga, the Siberian musk deer, whose material is the house's signature. The perfume is built around it, and its structure proves it: four materials in the heart versus two in the base, which is the opposite of the usual. The musk does not wait its turn at the end, it occupies the center. Around it, oakmoss — a historic material of chypre perfumes, now strictly regulated — brings the dampness and bitterness that evoke the forest better than a fir accord would.
For whom, for what occasions?
Woody, spicy and amber, this extract is for those who love animal musks and deep woods. It gives its best from autumn to winter, in the evening, worn equally well by women as by men.
With Siberia Bortnikoff, Dmitry Bortnikov builds an entire perfume around Siberian deer musk.
