Twelve fragrances, seven perfumers, one single year

Karakash Perfume is a Turkish haute parfumerie house, and its history has this particularity: all twelve of its fragrances were launched in the same year, in 2023 — a complete collection from the outset. Even rarer: these twelve creations are signed by seven different noses — Mohammad Tammam Mando, Jean-Michel Santorini, Amandine Galliano, Marc Zini, Marie Huguenot, Laure-Leta Jacquet, and Émilie Bouge. The bottles are sculptural, and the house's narrative revolves around self-preparation and confidence.

An opening of galbanum and mugwort

Galbanum opens with a green, sharp, almost spicy resin — one of the bitterest ingredients in perfumery. Mugwort answers it with a herbal and camphorous bitterness, while cardamom brings its spicy freshness.

A heart of guaiac wood and patchouli

Guaiac wood establishes its dry, almost tar-like smoke, nutmeg adds spice, and patchouli brings damp earth. Three ingredients, and the fragrance has already changed its register.

A base of cedar, musk, and vanilla

Cedarwood brings pencil-like dryness, musk provides longevity on the skin, and vanilla adds a discreet sweetness that rounds out without becoming sugary. The base softens exactly what was sharp about the opening.

The house's approach

Two bitter notes side by side at the top, and a formula of perfect regularity. Galbanum and mugwort are rarely combined — each is usually enough to give a fragrance its direction. Bringing them together creates a frankly vegetal, almost austere opening, which the fragrance then proceeds to soften.
