Parfumeur | Romain Keller
Soleil de Givre by Maison Jannobi is a spicy fruity citrus extrait de parfum, unisex, created by Romain Keller. Warmth and cold, not one after the other but together.
A French house, founded as a family business
Maison Jannobi is a French house founded as a family business. It prides itself on meticulous construction and a sober, lasting aesthetic, with signatures designed to stand the test of time rather than follow trends — a line that leaves full room for the raw materials. Its catalog consists of two extraits de parfum, each entrusted to a different master perfumer: Vincent Ricord for Van Cao, Romain Keller for Soleil de Givre.
An opening of lemon, cardamom, and ginger
The lemon opens, immediately pierced by the cardamom and the CO₂-extracted ginger — a process carried out at low temperature, which preserves the root's sharp bite rather than its cooked warmth. The wild strawberry completes it: tiny and tart, it has nothing to do with the sweet confectionery strawberry.
A heart of Brazilian orange and orange blossom
The Brazilian orange — the origin is named — brings the juice and the peel. The orange blossom follows: the orange is thus used twice, first as a fruit and then as a flower. The ylang-ylang adds its solar creaminess.
A base of sandalwood, vanilla, and amber
The sandalwood brings its creamy roundness, while the vanilla, amber, and sugar provide the warmth that closes the composition.
The house's approach
"Cold does not refresh, it consumes." The phrase is by Romain Keller regarding this perfume, and it gives the key: for him, "warmth and cold do not oppose each other but coexist in the same flash." This is what explains the CO₂ ginger and the cardamom planted right in the middle of the citrus: two spices that sting like a burn, not like a freshness. A perfume with an antithetical name usually settles for illustrating it with an image; here, the two temperatures are materials, and you can follow them.
For whom, for what occasions?
For those who love spicy citrus and are looking for a freshness that burns a little. From spring to autumn, by day as well as by evening. Soleil de Givre by Maison Jannobi is the most contrasting of the two.
