Parfumeur | Christian Carbonnel & Dmitry Bortnikov
Tiger Blue by Bortnikoff is an amber, musky, powdery niche perfume extract, unisex, co-created by Dmitry Bortnikov and Spanish master perfumer Christian Carbonnel. It belongs to the Entry Level collection.
A Thai house where the founder is also the perfumer
Bortnikoff is based in Thailand, in the heart of the agarwood-producing regions. It was founded by Dmitry Bortnikov, a Russian perfumer who is both the owner and the nose of his brand, and who works with wild Thai ouds, sourcing his materials at the source. The catalog is divided into four lines: Entry Level, Main Collection, Colognes and Attars. In October 2025, at the BeautyWorld Middle East show in Dubai, he presented a joint collection with Spanish perfumer Christian Carbonnel — the nose of Erba Pura for Xerjoff — named Entry Level: four lighter and brighter fragrances, where animalic notes are subtle. An entry point into the house, at a more accessible price. All in perfume extract, 50 ml bottle.
An opening of grapefruit, lemon and ginger
Grapefruit opens bitter and sparkling, lemon makes it sharper, and ginger adds a fresh and slightly soapy spiciness. A lively, tonic start, without the slightest sweetness.
A heart of violet, magnolia, amber and labdanum
Violet brings its cold powderiness, magnolia a lemony clarity. Then the amber accord and labdanum — the cistus resin, leathery and honeyed — warm everything up from the heart.
A base of ambergris, musk, vanilla and benzoin
Ambergris establishes its mineral and salty facet, musk the skin effect, vanilla and benzoin a balsamic sweetness. The sillage remains close to the body and lasts a very long time.
The house's signature
Amber and ambergris in the same bottle, on two different levels. These are two materials that are constantly confused and have nothing to do with each other. Amber is an accord, built from labdanum, vanilla and benzoin — and that is exactly what the heart of this fragrance does, where the three appear. Ambergris, on the other hand, is a marine concretion, mineral and salty, one of the rarest materials in perfumery. Tiger Blue uses both, the accord in the heart and the material in the base: the fragrance thus goes from a reconstructed amber to a real amber.
For whom, for what occasions?
Amber, musky and powdery, this extract is for those seeking a fresh fragrance that lasts, carried by amber rather than wood. It can be worn all year round, by day or by night, by both women and men.
With Tiger Blue Bortnikoff, Christian Carbonnel and Dmitry Bortnikov bring together the two ambers of perfumery.
