Perfume as a narrative

Epicò Parfum is an Italian house founded in 2018 by Federico Gucciardi, an artist born in Bologna and recognized as "the poet of perfume". The name says it all: Epicò means "story". Each fragrance is born from a story that Federico writes himself — pages of emotions, dreams, and memories that he then translates into accords, into "liquid verses" — and each perfume is accompanied by this short text, which reveals the soul of the fragrance. "Every drop is a word," he says, "every perfume is a chapter of our story." After years of artistic studies and a career in the great Italian beauty houses, he now composes with Fabio Bernardi and Giulia Brigliadori. The black bottle bears a handmade antique copper label made by artisans, which makes each piece slightly different. 100 ml bottle.

The vanilla flower opens green and fleeting, the malt brings its roasted cereal and opoponax a sweet resin.

A heart of rum, Indian davana, and rose

The rum settles in, boozy and sweet. The Indian davana enhances its dried fruit facets, the Bourbon geranium and the rose bring the floral.

A base of vanilla absolute, patchouli, and clove

The vanilla absolute unfolds, dense and amber. The patchouli brings its earthiness, the clove its spice and the tonka bean an almond-like sweetness.

The house's signature

MALT in the top notes. It is the sprouted cereal from which whisky and beer are made — roasted, sweet, slightly animalic. It prepares the rum of the heart long before it arrives. And the vanilla flower in the opening, green and fleeting, precedes the absolute of the base: the same material at two stages of its life, the flower then the pod.
