Parfumeur | Jean-Louis Sieuzac
Wanderlust by Oman Luxury is a fruity, woody, musky eau de parfum, unisex, created by Jean-Louis Sieuzac. It is one of the three fragrances in the collection to use neither oud, nor incense, nor saffron.
An Omani house that calls upon master perfumers
Oman Luxury is an independent house founded in 2012 by Muatasim, Muadh and Ahmed, then relaunched in October 2020 with a new identity. Its approach is twofold: draw from Omani heritage — the incense route, spices, agarwood — and entrust the formulas to leading French perfumers, among whom Dominique Ropion, Marie Salamagne, Pierre Negrin, Maurice Roucel or Emilie Coppermann. One of the three founders, Muatasim Al Hinai, composes two of the fragrances in the collection himself. The bottles incorporate motifs from Omani architecture and textiles.
An opening of blackcurrant, green apple and black pepper
Blackcurrant gives a dark, tart, and slightly effervescent fruitiness; the green apple adds its crunch. The bergamot and orange brighten, the black pepper brings the only warmth at the start. It is a green and lively opening, without any oriental spices.
A heart of clary sage, tea, jasmine and fig
Clary sage brings its herbal bitterness and slightly amber facet, the tea its dry and tannic leaf. The fig adds a green and milky flesh — the most characteristic note of the fragrance — and the jasmine a discreet whiteness. The heart remains vegetal from beginning to end.
A base of cedar, amber, sandalwood and musk
Four materials, sober. The cedarwood brings its dry dustiness, the sandalwood its lactic creaminess, the amber a measured warmth and the musk the skin effect. The sillage remains close to the body.
The house's gesture
The collection usually revolves around oud, incense and saffron. Wanderlust uses none of them: instead, a blackcurrant, a green apple, a tea and a fig — the repertoire of European green freshnesses. The house itself describes it as a green and woody fougère accord, a rare word in a catalog that mostly talks about resins and agarwood. Only two other fragrances, Mariya and Belfiore, thus depart from the Omani repertoire, and Wanderlust is the only one of the three to do so through green.
For whom, for what occasions?
For those who find orientals too heavy and are looking for a green fruitiness that lasts. It is a spring and summer fragrance, wearable day or night, with good longevity and a discreet sillage. Wanderlust Oman Luxury will suit those who want vegetal freshness.
