Parfumeur | Michał Gilbert Lach
Wild Carrot Oud by Bohoboco is a niche woody, leathery and spicy eau de parfum, unisex, created by Michał Gilbert Lach. Wild carrot meets oud.
A house that names its fragrances after their ingredients
Bohoboco is a Polish house based in Warsaw. It was founded in 2009 as a fashion brand by designers Michał Gilbert Lach and Kamil Owczarek. A first fragrance was released in 2012, before the collection was launched in 2016 — a project in which Lach, having worked in hairdressing, then makeup and later fashion design, says he found his true calling. The house's signature lies in its naming convention: each fragrance is simply named after two or three of its ingredients, without a story or character. Sea Salt Caramel, Vanilla Black Pepper, Wild Carrot Oud — and even provocative names like Magic Mushrooms or Polish Potatoes. The first compositions were created in Grasse, and the house has been awarded by the Fragrance Foundation UK, Vogue Beauty and Elle Style. Everything is available as a 50 ml eau de parfum, unisex.
An opening of bergamot, carrot and cinnamon
The carrot opens organically, earthy and slightly sweet — the scent of a root that has just been pulled from the ground. It contrasts with the bergamot, bright and tangy, enhanced by a touch of cinnamon.
A heart of cedarwood, dry wood and oud
The oud settles in, dense and oriental, surrounded by cedarwood and dry woods. This is the house's most austere heart: nothing but wood, without any flowers or fruit to soften it.
A base of tobacco, animalic notes, leather and styrax
The tobacco brings its smoky depth, the animalic notes their raw musk, and the leather its texture. Balsamic styrax and earth close the composition with a scent that is difficult to describe.
The house's approach
A root vegetable confronted with the most precious wood in the world. On one side, the carrot, a garden vegetable, a humble and earthy ingredient that the house chooses to symbolize wildness. On the other, oud, agarwood, the most expensive ingredient in perfumery. The fragrance does not seek to reconcile them: it lets them face each other. And it aims for a specific scent, which the house describes as that of sun-warmed skin — a scent that, it says, eludes any olfactory definition. It is also the only fragrance in the collection whose heart contains only woods.
For whom, and for what occasions?
Woody, leathery and spicy, this eau de parfum is for those who love austere, animalic and uncompromising fragrances. It is at its best from autumn to winter, in the evening, regardless of gender.
With Wild Carrot Oud Bohoboco, Michał Gilbert Lach presents the rawest creation in his collection.
