Parfumeur | Vanina Muracciole
Wine Vanilla by Jupilò is a vanilla, powdery and floral perfume extract, unisex. A vanilla held by narcissus, a rare flower in perfumery.
A father, suitcases full of bottles
Jupilò is an Italian house founded by Lorenzo Zaccheo — lawyer, professional sommelier and former boxer. His passion for perfumes comes from his father, a lover of beauty and Paris, who returned from trips with suitcases full of bottles: Annick Goutal, Diptyque, L'Artisan Parfumeur, Caron. “And every time, it was Christmas.” The child became a collector, then a student of olfactory art, then creative director. The house defines itself as a cross between Rome and Paris, with methods borrowed from oenology that his profession as a sommelier explains. Four perfumers sign the catalog: Vanina Muracciole, Arturetto Landi, Christian Carbonnel and Luca Maffei.
An opening of bergamot, pear and blackcurrant
The bergamot opens with a bright citrus, the pear brings its juicy and discreet flesh, the blackcurrant a dark, slightly sulfurous acidity. A clear start, which gives no hint of the density to come.
A heart of narcissus, jasmine and violet
The narcissus holds the heart: a hay-scented, green and slightly animalic flower, one of the most expensive and difficult materials to use. The jasmine thickens it, the violet brings the powder that gives the perfume its second family.
A base of tonka bean and vanilla
The tonka bean brings back the almond and cut hay, in direct echo to the narcissus. The vanilla establishes the sweetness announced by the name, the cedarwood the dryness and the white musks the longevity.
The house's signature
Narcissus at the heart of a vanilla. It is a costly and risky choice: narcissus is a hay-scented, almost animalic flower that perfumery usually reserves for chypres and austere compositions. Placing it at the center of a powdery vanilla creates friction — the flower prevents the sugar from settling, and the vanilla rounds off what is wild about the narcissus. Without it, it would be just another floral vanilla.
For whom, for what occasions?
Vanilla, powdery and floral, this extract is for those who love floral and powdery vanillas, and seek a vanilla with character rather than comfort. From autumn to winter, for evening wear. It is the most distinguished of the house's vanillas.
With Wine Vanilla Jupilò, a wild flower prevents a sugar from settling.
