Yellow Rose Incense by Bohoboco is a niche floral, spicy, and amber eau de parfum, unisex, created by Michał Gilbert Lach. Rose and incense, face to face.
A house that names its fragrances after their ingredients
Bohoboco is a Polish house based in Warsaw. It was born in 2009 as a fashion brand, founded by designers Michał Gilbert Lach and Kamil Owczarek. A first fragrance appeared in 2012, before the collection was launched in 2016 — a project in which Lach, having worked in hairdressing, makeup, and then fashion design, says he found his true calling. The house's signature lies in its naming convention: each fragrance simply bears the name of two or three of its ingredients, without a story or character. Sea Salt Caramel, Vanilla Black Pepper, Wild Carrot Oud — and even provocative names like Magic Mushrooms or Polish Potatoes. The first compositions were created in Grasse, and the house has been awarded by the Fragrance Foundation UK, Vogue Beauty, and Elle Style. Everything is available as a 50 ml eau de parfum, unisex.
An opening of rose, clove, and cinnamon
The rose opens full and proud, immediately pierced by the clove, sharp and intense, and warmed by the cinnamon. A flower that does not let anyone approach without harm.
A heart of incense, oud, and amber
The incense establishes its resinous smoke, the oud its woody depth, and the amber its golden warmth. Three ingredients that the house describes as enveloping and protective.
A base of patchouli, benzoin, and white musk
The patchouli brings its earthiness, the benzoin its balsamic sweetness, and the white musk its skin effect, subtle but tenacious. The longevity and sillage are remarkable.
The house's approach
Clove plays the role of the rose's thorns. The image is that of the house itself, and it explains the entire construction: the sharp and intense aromas of clove recall the thorns of the proud rose. The flower is therefore not presented alone but armed, from the very first second. Second detail: the oud used comes from the agar tree, a material that the house emphasizes is not easy to obtain — like the path it wants to evoke. The entire fragrance is designed as a reward at the end of the creative effort.
For whom, for what occasions?
Floral, spicy, and amber, this eau de parfum is for those who love dark roses and incense, far from tame florals. It gives its best from autumn to winter, in the evening, without distinction of gender.
With Yellow Rose Incense Bohoboco, Michał Gilbert Lach arms a flower with its own thorns.
