Kilian Paris was founded in 2007 by Kilian Hennessy, a direct descendant of Richard Hennessy, who founded the cognac house in 1765. He grew up among the oak barrels in the family cellars — the scents of alcohol are therefore not a marketing theme but a childhood smell. Before launching his brand, he dedicates his 1995 master's thesis to the semantics of scents, trains under Jacques Cavallier and Thierry Wasser, then works for Dior, Armani, Paco Rabanne and Alexander McQueen. The catalog is organized into five fragrance families: The Liquors, The Narcotics, The Cellars, The Fresh and The Smokes. This one belongs to The Liquors.

The on the rocks accord, the house's exclusive signature, opens the composition with bitter orange. The house describes it as a blend of grapefruit, lemon and bergamot oils: enough to reproduce the cold of the ice cube in the glass.
