Egnaro by Santi Burgas is an oriental woody citrus eau de parfum, unisex, by Santi Burgas. The title is the word orange written backwards — and the composition applies the same reversal.

SANTI BURGAS presents itself as "an avant-garde and alternative niche perfume brand, born in the heart of the Mediterranean in 2008". The formulas are born in Torroella de Montgrí, in the Empordà, in a former rice drying shed that the house calls its "ant colony" — the letters A, N, T are "at the heart of the brand name" and the ant is its symbol. Egnaro is born from a precise memory: a cruise in the Mediterranean "on a hot summer day in 1992", from Valencia to Palermo, passing through Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa and Naples.

The Valencia orange — the most renowned Spanish variety, and the port from which the story departs — opens juicy and sweet. The anise gives it a licorice and slightly powdery touch, the ginger a fresh and rooty spiciness. A lively opening, which resembles no ordinary citrus start.

A heart of Calabria bergamot and Australian sandalwood

Two ingredients, and a citrus at the heart rather than in the head: it is the mirror announced by the title. The Calabria bergamot brings its bitter floral — Calabria is the other shore of the journey — and the Australian sandalwood its woody creaminess, which holds it back from evaporating.

A base of amber and civet

The amber establishes a round and balsamic warmth. The civet — one of the most animalic ingredients in perfumery — gives it its skin effect, a bit dirty and very tenacious. It is what tips a citrus into the oriental.

The house's gesture

The house does not settle for reversing a word: it reverses the construction. Bergamot, which opens 90% of the perfumes on the market, is placed here in the heart, behind an orange and a spice. The perfume is therefore read backwards — it lightens in the middle instead of lightening at the beginning.
