Flaming Red by Santi Burgas is a floral, woody, fruity eau de parfum, unisex, by Santi Burgas. Six named materials, three origins: it is the house's shortest composition.

“A True Love”

SANTI BURGAS presents itself as “an avant-garde, alternative niche perfume brand, born in the heart of the Mediterranean in 2008.” The formulas are created in Torroella de Montgrí, in Empordà, in a former rice drying shed that the house calls its “ant colony” — the ant is its symbol, and the letters A, N, T are “at the heart of the brand’s name.” Flaming Red is introduced by a single sentence: “A true love! Punished in the deepest shadows of solitude, we are forced to remain beneath a bed of stones that no one will ever dare lift.” The house credits an artistic collaboration with Raul del Sol.

An Opening of Bulgarian Rose and Tuscan Iris Root

The Bulgarian rose and Tuscan iris root — two of the most expensive materials in perfumery — are presented right from the start, without the slightest citrus to introduce them. The rose arrives honeyed and full, the iris cool, powdery, and root-like. A mineral opening, almost austere.

A Heart of Passion Fruit and Laotian Oud

The passion fruit brings a tropical and slightly sulfurous acidity; the Laotian oud a dark, leathery depth. This face-off between the vibrant fruit and the precious wood is the subject of the perfume — two materials, no transition.

A Base of Amber and Bourbon Vanilla

The amber establishes a balsamic warmth, the Bourbon vanilla a woody rather than sugary sweetness. The sillage becomes round and enveloping, after a start that was not at all.

The House’s Approach

Six materials organized into three duos, one per layer. None has a linking role: each pair is a stark contrast — the flower against the root, the fruit against the wood, the resin against the pod. It is a composition based on oppositions, and it only works if each material is flawless, since there is nothing to cover it.

For those who love roses backed by oud. Evenings, mid-season. A 100 ml unisex eau de parfum. The house declares its perfumes vegan and not tested on animals, “99% made between Empordà and Barcelona.”
