Granada by Al Jazeera Perfumes is a floral musky eau de parfum, unisex, launched in 2017. It belongs to the house's Orient Collection and pays tribute, in its own words, to the grandeur and beauty of the Andalusian civilization.
A Qatari house whose every bottle bears the word "Paris"
Al Jazeera Perfumes was born in Doha in 1998, and opened the city's first rare perfume boutique in 2002. The word Paris inscribed on its bottles is not decorative: from the beginning, the house has worked with the greatest French manufacturers of perfumery raw materials and entrusts its compositions to French perfumers. Granada is part of the Orient Collection, where the house brings together perfumes inspired by the great cities of Andalusia.
An opening of rose
Rose opens alone. No citrus, no spice to precede it: Granada sets its register from the outset, that of a full and elegant flower, placed at the center of everything that follows.
A heart of musk and cedarwood
Musk envelops the rose and gives it a soft, almost powdery texture, while cedarwood brings a dry and straight line that structures the bouquet. It is this cedar that prevents the perfume from tipping into a purely sweet register.
A base of sandalwood, ambergris, vanilla and musk
Creamy sandalwood, warm and slightly salty ambergris and vanilla form a round and enveloping base, which musk prolongs on the skin. The house describes this part of the perfume as an accord where sandalwood blends with tuberose and vanilla, for a result that it wants to be both mysterious and light.
The house's approach
Granada rests on a simple idea: a rose, and everything that surrounds it to soften it. Musk appears twice in the formula, in the heart then in the base, and it is what gives the perfume its creamy character and its longevity. Where other references from the house, like Onyx, darken the rose with oud, Granada keeps it luminous and places it on a bed of sandalwood and vanilla.
For whom, for what occasions?
For those who love elegant and soft roses, creamier than green. Its base of sandalwood, vanilla and musk makes it a versatile perfume, from everyday wear to evenings, with a preference for autumn and winter.
With Granada, Al Jazeera Perfumes signs one of the softest and easiest to wear roses in its catalog.
