A tribute to mothers and grandmothers

SANTI BURGAS presents itself as "an avant-garde, alternative niche perfume brand, born in the heart of the Mediterranean in 2008". The formulas are created in Torroella de Montgrí, in the Empordà, in a former rice drying shed turned workshop — which the house calls its "ant colony". Miss Betty Vair is described as "a tribute to mothers and grandmothers", and the house gives its themes: perseverance, "deep roots", effort, and a peaceful attitude.

An opening of Spanish lemon, eucalyptus and jasmine

The Spanish lemon opens bright and tart. The eucalyptus doubles it with a camphorous freshness, almost medicinal — it's unusual right from the start, and it's what prevents the citrus from behaving like a cologne. The jasmine adds a white and indolic fleshiness.

A heart of nutmeg and Indonesian patchouli

Only two ingredients. The nutmeg brings a dry and woody warmth, the Indonesian patchouli its damp and camphorous earthiness. This is where the composition shifts towards chypre.

A base of Java vetiver, oakmoss and white musk

The Java vetiver brings a smoky and mineral root, the oakmoss — the ingredient that defines chypre — its green and bitter undergrowth dampness, the white musk envelops it. The sillage becomes dry, patinated and remarkably tenacious.

The house's signature

It is the only fragrance from the house built on the complete chypre structure: citrus in the top, patchouli in the heart, oakmoss in the base.
