Klein blue in perfume

SANTI BURGAS presents itself as “an avant-garde, alternative niche perfume brand, born in the heart of the Mediterranean in 2008.” The formulas are created in Torroella de Montgrí, in the Empordà, in a former rice drying shed that the house calls its “ant colony”. Ôikb is the acronym for “Eau Intense King Blue” — IKB for International Klein Blue, the ultramarine that the painter Yves Klein had patented. The house thus summarizes its perfume: “First, I fell into the immensity, then something appeared from the depths, and suddenly my skin felt a deep blue.”

An opening of Grasse lavender, iris root, black pepper and nutmeg

The Grasse lavender — the noblest origin for this herb — opens camphoraceous and floral. The iris root immediately establishes its cold and powdery texture, which is rare in the top notes. The black pepper stings, the nutmeg warms. The effect is sharp, dry, a little clinical.

A heart of Virginia cedar and leather

Two materials, an unadorned face-to-face. The Virginia cedar brings its sharpened pencil dryness, the leather a supple and tanned material. Nothing to soften them: this is the hardest moment of the perfume.

The Brazilian tonka bean finally brings sweetness — almond, cut hay, blonde tobacco. And the African stone, a mineral material that is found nowhere else in our catalog, adds a sun-heated wheel dryness.
