N°2 by Rosendo Mateu is a woody, leathery, citrus eau de parfum, unisex, created by Rosendo Mateu. Citrus, wood and suede: this is how the house summarizes its most understated creation.

The luxury of suede, not a leather jacket

Rosendo Mateu entered the perfume industry in 1968 and spent forty years at the Spanish group Puig, composing for Nina Ricci, Paco Rabanne and Carolina Herrera. In 2010, after forty-five years dedicated to perfume, Puig awarded him the title of Master Perfumer. In 2015, he founded the house that bears his name in Barcelona with his son Joan. N°2 is one of the first four perfumes. The house announces it with a single phrase: "high-quality suede, enriched by the richness of sandalwood and patchouli." This is not a biker leather, it is a glove leather.

An opening of Calabrian bergamot and lemon

Only two citrus fruits, and the house describes them as "green-citrusy." The Calabrian bergamot brings its bitter floral note, while the lemon brings its frank acidity. The opening is light and quickly fades: it is not the subject of the perfume, only its entrance.

A heart of rose, geranium leaves, suede, amber cashmere and sandalwood

The rose arrives fresh, while the geranium leaf answers with a peppery, slightly metallic greenness. Then the suede settles in, velvety rather than tanned, softened by amber cashmere and sandalwood. It is here, and not at the base, that the leather takes its place.

A base of benzoin, tonka bean, vanilla, white musk and patchouli

The benzoin brings its balsamic and slightly vanilla resin, the tonka bean almond and cut hay, the vanilla roundness. The white musk settles the whole on the skin and the patchouli gives it its earthy anchor. The sillage remains close to the body and lasts a very long time.

The house's signature

Leather is placed in the heart, where almost all perfumery places it at the base. The direct consequence: it arrives earlier, it is still crossed by the rose and geranium, and it is the vanilla benzoin that has the last word. The perfume has the material of a leather without having its end.

For whom, for what occasions?

For those who prefer that their perfume be noticed up close rather than from afar. Autumn and winter, day or evening, and particularly just on a dressed-up outfit. It is not the easiest in the collection, it is the most mature. Unisex, at 20% concentration like the whole house.
