A chef turned perfumer

Lorenzo Pazzaglia is an Italian house born in Cagli, a village in the heart of the Marches. This is where its founder grew up, surrounded by the aromas of his father's restaurant — "I grew up surrounded by the smells of my father's kitchen," he says — before working there himself as a chef. He remained one: in the kitchen by day, in the laboratory by night. Self-taught, he composes the entire catalog himself, 100% extrait de parfum, with a very high concentration of oils.

An opening of cherry and amarena

The cherry opens on ripe and candied fruit. Then amarena arrives in the same opening: the Italian sour cherry, more acidic and more biting. Bergamot, black pepper, and the rum accord complete it.

A heart of red wine, Damask rose, and ink

Red wine brings the tannin, the Damask rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, and mimosa the flowers. The warm spices and myrrh darken, and the ink — metallic, paper, and iron note — gives its name to the perfume.

A base of vanilla beans and agarwood

The vanilla beans, tonka bean, and benzoin bring the sweetness, the patchouli, precious woods, agarwood, amber, and musk the depth.

The house's touch

Two cherries in the same opening, and the house presents them as sisters. The table cherry and the amarena — the sour cherry — have neither the same use nor the same taste; placing them side by side gives the fruit a relief that a single note would not have. It is a market distinction, not a laboratory one. The ink accord does the rest — metallic and cold, it prevents the red fruit from turning into syrup, and justifies the name.
