Fresh Fragrances
Fresh fragrances: freshness in all its forms
In perfumery, freshness is not a single sensation but several, achieved in very different ways. Tart freshness comes from citrus; botanical freshness from aromatic herbs; marine freshness from ozonic molecules; mineral freshness from materials such as ambroxan.
Contrary to popular belief, a fresh fragrance is not necessarily light or short-lived. Niche perfumery has explored deep freshness extensively: vetiver can be both fresh and dense, while a mineral accord can last all day. Freshness is a sensation, not a measure of concentration.
How to navigate fresh fragrances
- Tart freshness: lemon, bergamot, grapefruit
- Botanical freshness: lavender, mint, green leaves
- Aquatic freshness: marine and ozonic notes
- Mineral freshness: ambroxan, wet stone, dry woods
An ideal family for summer and warm climates, without having to compromise on longevity.
